CAPTAIN’S NEWSLETTER

                                JANUARY 2010

GOLF COURSE

An unfortunate end to 2009 and the start of 2010 has seen the course closed for long periods on a number of occasions and this has caused frustration to the members.

Please remember that decisions on closure or otherwise are difficult at the best of times and sometimes have to be made at short notice.

Rest assured that these decisions are made in the best interests of the members either through health and safety or course preservation requirements.

YOUR PATIENCE IS REQUESTED and I hope that we return to normality very soon.

SOCIAL

The raffle of the Cadbury’s hamper donated by Bob Walsh raised a staggering £235 for the Joint Captains’ Charities.  Thanks to all who participated, and once again to Bob for his kind donation.

The next function will be a Valentine’s Evening to be held on Saturday 13th February.  This will include a 3-course meal, gift for the ladies and entertainment by Melody J.  Please book your tickets early.

Don’t forget the Whist Drives organised by Truda and advertised in the Clubhouse.  Come along and give it a try!

Let’s have lots of support for the raffle for a personal parking spot for twelve months commencing after the AGM in April.  I will also erect a nameplate at the parking spot for the lucky winner.

Atherstone Golf Club’s Annual Dinner Dance will be held on Saturday 13th March in Atherstone Memorial Hall.  Full details will be circulated shortly.

GENERAL

I am sure all members will join me in wishing our President Paul Matthews a speedy return to health, and also best wishes to his brother John after his nasty accident on the course.

Just a reminder to all that subscription time is fast approaching and that the prompt collection of subs will be at the top of the agenda this year.

Again anyone interested in committee or general assistance please make their interest known.

Best wishes to you all for a happy, healthy and successful New Year from myself and Carole, Truda and Maurice.
